Message from CCD Coordinator, Jennifer Doloski
After consulting with Father G, several families, and several of our volunteer teachers, I have made the difficult decision not to hold in-person classes for our CCD program for the upcoming school year.
The Diocese released its guidelines for the re-opening of Catholic schools and informed parishes that CCD programs must follow the same guidelines. This would require students and teachers to be masked, all attendees to sign liability waivers, and increased cleaning and disinfection of the Parish Center. As students are already being asked to adapt to wearing masks in school Monday-Friday, I feel very strongly - as a teacher and a parent - that they don't need one more classroom setting in which they must be masked. Further, in several of our classrooms, I simply do not have the ability to create the appropriate distance between students that is required. I know, too, that some of my volunteers are unable to teach their classes in the current environment for a variety of reasons.
I am currently talking to other parishes and have a meeting scheduled this week with the publisher of the textbooks we have been using. I am in the process of deciding which materials are best suited for each class, whether classes will be online, text only, or some hybrid of the two. Class "attendance" will be measured by work completed, and those details are still fluid.
It is possible that we might have limited class meetings for students preparing for First Holy Communion and Confirmation to supplement at-home lessons.
As soon as the details are finalized, registration materials will be released through the parish's Facebook page, website, and at Masses.

Our August Cleaning Committee will have Mary Ann Terry as their Head Chair. Mary Ann is planning on cleaning on Saturday, August 8th. She will get in touch with her group as the month gets closer.
We are still in need of a September Head Chair for our September Cleaning Committee. Please if you are interested contact Pat Bailey @ 815-357-8545.
Our October Cleaning Committee will have Rob/Sally Maierhofer as their Head Chairs. Rob/Sally will get in touch with their group as the month gets closer.
Your cleaning Chairs will be in touch with you as your month approaches. If we have a date confirmed by the Head Chair, it will be printed here on the website and in the Monthly Bulletin.
